Bishop Auckland based startup, Stylebook Directory has been named as the Business to Business Services StartUp of the Year whilst also winning the Rising Star Award at the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber finals of the StartUp Awards held on Thursday 11th May.
Stylebook Directory, an online platform for hairdressers, trainees, barbers, salons and stylists, allows professionals to showcase their portfolio to book in clients across the UK. Founded by Sarah Yorke in 2020, the business launched after she received a bad haircut to which her response was to create a directory for clients to view images and videos of hair professionals prior to booking.
Sarah, a hairdresser of 30 years, is absolutely delighted with the double win and said: “many people since the beginning of Stylebook launching were astonished by the huge gap in the market and why the concept hadn’t already been implemented. It’s as simple as finding a stylist to create your preferred hairstyle. Everyone should be given the choice to wear their hair how they choose. As it stands, we have a multitude of professionals using the directory across the nation as well as over 1,000 images uploaded by hair professionals for clients to browse. We’ve got a lot up our sleeve so watch this space”.
An impressive feat for the small business, with the objective to soon reach a much wider audience nationwide in the coming future. The StartUp Awards were established in 2022 to highlight the success of startups across nine UK nations and regions, and to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy.
The North East, Yorkshire and the Humber final was held at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle and saw 33 different awards given out to new businesses in categories such as Consumer Services StartUp, Rebel StartUp of the Year and Social Enterprise StartUp of the Year.
