Mrs Prentis praised the business, which came about in 1921 and now employs 25 people“We are really proud to have the UK’s oldest wig making supplies company here in Banbury. It was a pleasure for me to join in Banbury Postiche’s centenary celebration,” she commented.

“It was brilliant to see how they make wigs of all shapes and sizes, using both real and artificial hair. I saw how how they clean and draw the hair. Then I watched how they make the wig foundation and how they knot it. The level of craftmanship was incredible.”

The visit by Mrs Prentis marks the start of the company’s 100-year celebrations. “It’s great that Victoria was able to visit us in our centenary year. We’re confident that the foundations for the next 100 years are in place,” commented Nick Allen, owner of Banbury Postiche.

The company offers a range of services, from providing wigs for NHS and private patients, direct to salons or colleges, theatres, educational providers, trade, cosmetic research and even to supplying materials for films such as Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Further plans are in the pipeline this year to continue the celebration of the company’s 100-year anniversary, with exclusive promotions, charity fundraising and a staff party already organised as part of Centenary Celebrations at Banbury Postiche.
