Charitable Status for Our Charity in Scotland

Hair & Beauty Charity is delighted to announce its registered charitable status in Scotland, alongside it’s already registered status in England & Wales.

The charity has passed the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) charity test for charitable status and also received the Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) charity number SC051293.

The Scottish Charity Regulator will regulate the Charity to ensure that it always does what is best for the charity; also ensuring it follows its governing document, acts with care and diligence, and meets the charity’s legal responsible.

Hair & Beauty Charity offer financial assistance to hairdressers, barbers and also beauty professionals facing difficult times. This can be due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, bereavement, and financial hardship. Ten percent of the charity’s current beneficiaries live in Scotland.

The charity started the application process after listening to feedback from our Scottish supporters; they felt the importance of registration for the Hair & Beauty Charity also in Scotland. Our trustees of the charity take their governance extremely seriously; they welcome the new level of compliance within Scottish legal structure and charity law,” explains Charity President, Samantha Grocutt.

Hair & Beauty Charity has been a registered charity in England and Wales since 2017.  It was first established in 1836 as the Hairdressers’ Orphan Fund friendly society.
