Colour World UK in May is unmissable for professional hair colourists.

This year heralds a massive ‘return to live’ for hairdressing. Craving the enthusiasm, support and camaraderie of each other, events are once again great for business building, creativity and simply coming together.

Social media is spreading news of Colour World like wildfire. Posts with the hashtags #colourworlduk #cw23 #cwga23 have an estimated social reach exceeding 1million in just 4 weeks. Nearly 47,000 social media interactions and 43,000 likes on Instagram and Facebook notched up already. Sponsor brands and attendees are being added to the mix and benefit from the attention. @colourworlduk posts, re-shares and tags for the event and awards Tickets for the London edition of Colour World went on sale recently, along with news of the annual Colour Genius Awards 2023 held the same weekend. Colour World is the only totally colour-only, independent event in the UK hair industry, and cherished as such. Owned by the Respect For Hair brand and supported by numerous sponsors and collaborators, the event has integrity for not being owned by any one colour house. Year on year, surveys of ticket holders show it is primarily experienced colourists and salon owners who attend. Of more than 1550 visitors in 2022, 80% of visitors described themselves as having 6+ years experience as a colourist, educator, or salon owner. Equally, 54% were aged 25-44 years.

Forming a 2-day event, Colour World will run over Sunday 14 May and Monday 15 May with the awards party on Sunday evening. A new venue in central London (Hoxton Square) brings a fresh aspect to this event in its 8th year. The stunning Shoreditch Electric Power station is the background for discovering the best in colour. Plans include welcoming up to 2000 visitors.

An individual day ticket gives access to the entire event offering. The move to a larger building and yard gives inside and outside space that invites hairdressers to become immersed in colour as a professional, whether working in a salon or independently. The concept for Colour World is ‘anti-zoo’. Everything is on the flat – encouraging visitors to really watch, study and engage with the presenters. Around the venue each day a minimum of 45 colour
demos takes place, plus a rolling programme of education seminars, and plenty of interactivity to enjoy. Education, colour inspiration, product innovation, news and comment is delivered by the industry’s most accomplished artists and leading brands. Ticket holders have no limitations on time, and no extra costs.

There is no backstage meaning backwashes, styling bars and make-up stations are all on show. Sunday 14 May and Monday 15 May will have slightly differing line-ups but overall similar content. See social media for up-to-date line-ups. As well as the larger sponsor spaces where big brands will be showing off their portfolios and inviting, questions, the masses of single Colour Shair demo points give opportunity to the independent colourists and freelancers at work. The Colour Genius Awards party takes place on Sunday 14 May at Gigi’s in Hoxton Square. With more than 400 entries over 10 categories to date (competition closes end of March), it’s going to be a hotly contested night.
