Cos Sakkas – TONI&GUY International Artistic Director and Head of Education – is International Hairdresser of the Year 2022. The announcement came in a presentation live-streamed on Instagram.
Founder of the International Hairdressing Awards, Mikel Luzea and Global Ambassador, Sergi Bancells, surprised Cos Sakkas at the TONI&GUY Academy in Central London.
This is the second time Cos has received a nomination for the award. It saw him put together a selection of beautiful images from his Craftwork collection, as well as his achievements and work over the past 12 months. This is the first winner’s announcement as part of the International Hairdressing Awards World Tour. It will also stop off at every winner’s city announcing the seven category winners this week.
“I was really excited when Mikel and Sergi arrived at the Academy this morning; I was so happy when they announced I was the winner of International Hairdresser of the Year,” said Cos. “It’s been a difficult 13 months and I dedicate this award to the whole TONI&GUY team across the world. They have all worked tirelessly to educate and inspire hairdressers everywhere.”
The seven winners will now be special guests at the International Hairdressing Awards in Madrid on 16 May. There, the evening will consist of the purple carpet, a catwalk show and glittering awards ceremony.
