Joe Mills' 3 Key Barbering Trends for AW20/21

As we head into Winter, session stylist and entrepreneur, Joe Mills, has established what will be the three key looks for guys this coming season:

“During the past six months we have seen men split into two distinct groups. Those that shaved their head as soon as lockdown started, and those that left their hair to grow a bit longer before they could visit their barber. And as we head into AW20, these habits continue, as many continue to work from home.”

Buzzcut

The Buzzcut was THE lockdown look, worn by celebrities and professionals working from home. It’s the ultimate masculine style, is low maintenance and is easy to look after. If you’re not sure how to wear your hair it’s the perfect blank canvas to start afresh. The head shape is really important for this look, but the good news is it grows back quickly if you don’t like it.

Natural Texture

Longer layers were already in fashion, but many men have grown their hair during lockdown and decided to keep the length. They have also embraced their natural texture, using products to encourage tousled curls or natural waves. Many professionals who have to be smartly dressed for the office have embraced this look before being called back into office. So it’s the perfect opportunity to educate them about the right products for them.

Fades

Fades are here to stay – it’s just about making it look modern. Pair it with a side parting, or go as high as you dare. High fades can look severe so soften it with slightly longer lengths on top and keep it soft round the hairline.
