‘Memphis’ is derived from the desire to experiment and create something new during lockdown and with the limited resources available. Giuseppe Stelitano was inspired by the post-modernist Memphis movement created in Milan in the 1980s.
The movement especially focused especially on the work of Ettore Sottsass called ‘Il Vetro’ (The Glass) – a series of sculptures composed of several elements that speak of a living world, as much as of fantasy.
“I tried to reproduce the same feeling with this collection,” explains Giuseppe. “A more conceptual work where the idea of creating looks made of extensions put together on an androgynous mannequin; hair of different colours, shapes and translucency has given me huge freedom to be creative.”
