Hollywood Glam

Old Hollywood glam was a definite trend throughout the evening. Marina Hodgins, salon owner of Fringe Benefits, Gloucester says: “Lady Gaga looked stunning at this year’s BAFTAS. She made a stunning statement with a combination of classic waves, dramatic lashes and flawless makeup. Her whole look oozed glamour. ” Coventry-based stylist Gráinne McClelland agrees. She adds: “Lady Gaga stole the show for me with her polished waves. I loved the detail in the finger wave that skimmed her cheekbone, framing her face perfectly.”

Rebel Wilson also wowed in her take on a 1940s-inspired look, Tim Scott Wright says: “I am a huge fan of red carpet, Hollywood glamour and Rebel Wilson’s BAFTA look had this in spades. A perfect blonde with gentle waves through the mid lengths and ends, swept to the side for a classic finish.”

Middle Partings Reign

In a win for Gen Z, middle partings reigned the red-carpet, making it clear it is a look that is here to stay. Dublin-based salon manager and stylist, Anna Stubbs says: “My favourite trends from the BAFTAs were the sleek middle parts seen on Emma Watson, Millie Bobby Brown and Maya Jama.” Adding her top tips for recreating the look, she says: “My best tip is to use a pin tail comb, line it up vertically on your nose and push backwards for the perfect middle parting. Be sure use a firm hold hair spray to keep the parting super sleek and to banish any fly aways.” Salon owner Tim Scott-Wright says: “Millie’s updo had a gothic glamour feel, with a statement centre parting that continues into her fringe. It’s such a gorgeous look, with added details that make the finished style interesting with added edge.”
