The importance of fragrance has played an essential role in the overall Oribe experience since its inception in 2008. And now the much-celebrated signature scent, Côte d’Azur, is joined by two new fragrances, Valley of Flowers and Desertland and an original packaging design.
The importance of fragrances perhaps becaome general knowledge thanks to Marcel Proust and his “madeleine moment“. Indeed, today everyone recognizes the ability of odours to spontaneously cue autobiographical memories: Many of these can be extremely vivid and affectively toned, corresponding to different times and places in our past.
The Oribe brand has always focused on the importance of fragrance in its products. Its much-celebrated signature scent, Côte d’Azur runs throughout its high-performance hair care collection, and intended to follow you throughout the day. This remarkable hair scent became a recognizable brand signature, becoming a stand-alone eau de parfum in 2014.
Now, as the brand continues to reimagine its journey in scent, Oribe is expanding its lifestyle collection. Two new fragrances, Valley of Flowers and Desertland, are joining Côte d’Azur. Moreover, these innovations have evolved hand in hand with an original packaging design.
The importance of fragrance is always at the core. For this reason, each one evokes an individual mood and embodies its own unique identity. It might even be said that these fragrances transport the wearer to the dreamlike destinations for which they are named. They are capable of sparking a special feeling for a true sensorial experience. Together, this trio of gender-neutral scents is the ultimate modern fragrance wardrobe.
Seductive and effervescently fresh, Oribe’s signature scent embodies the classic glamour and heat of the French Riviera. The scent creates a sensual and invigorating experience featuring citrusy Calabrian bergamot. White butterfly jasmine, or la mariposa blanca – the Cuban national flower, is a nod to Oribe Canales’s heritage. There is also a touch of sandalwood for creamy warmth.
Valley of Flowers
Valley of Flowers is a modern interpretation of a lush floral scent. It immerses the wearer in a fragrant field of fresh blooms. A harmonious blend of Bulgarian rose, peony petals and warm amber evokes the feeling of a morning walk through a dream-like and sun-drenched garden.
Bright, crisp notes of juniper berry, desert wildflowers and Texas cedarwood embody the essence of a blooming desert, transporting the wearer to a peaceful and powerful place. This aromatic green scent was inspired by Daniel Kaner’s trip to Marfa, Texas. It captures both the sandy heat of the day and cool vastness of the still night. Indeed, a scent that only nature can produce.
“At Oribe, we pay great attention to every detail, and fragrance is an extremely important part of the overall experience,” said Daniel Kaner, President and Co-Founder of Oribe Hair Care. “As we move beyond hair care into lifestyle, fragrance will continue to be at the heart of everything we create.”
The Design and Packaging
Even the brand’s packaging is designed to reflect the importance of fragrance. Indeed, the materials and forms create a visual statement that sparks an emotional reaction. As a result, even the object itself become covetable. The distinctive fragrance bottles are no different. Inspired by post-modernist art and architecture, they feature elongated oval shapes and a sculptured surface. The one-of-a-kind resin caps come in three colors, each echoing the scent within. The overall appeal is therefore even more holistic, appealing to the senses of sight and touch as well!
