“Creating the perfect Barbie blonde really is dependant on the client you have in the chair,” says Tim “With the right approach, consultation and products, everything is possible. The classic Barbie blonde is bright and shiny, not ashy. I use Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Premium Lightener 9+ for a full head of highlights, and then depending on the client’s natural base, I lift in between foils to brighten at the roots. You’re aiming for a vanilla, butter blonde so don’t go heavy with ash toners.
Generational Blondes
“Margot Robbie is the perfect reference for younger Gen Barbies. In between highlights I would do a high lift, using Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Blonde Lifting in shade Ice or Ash to give a cleaner result. I love Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Blonde Toning in shade Sand for toning for a golden hue.
“For your 35-50 year old barbies, Pamela Anderson is a great reference. This blonde bombshell shade will need a base lift and blend instead of a high lift dependant on how much natural grey your client has. I use Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Lift&Blend to create the desired tone.
“For our more mature Barbies out there, Goldie Hawn is my go-to reference. Again, the process is the same, however you may not need as many lights here, BLONDME Lift&Blend will do most of your work for you. Combined with a scattering of lights to get the desired shade.
