Wella Professionals reveals the names of the dynamic group of five up-and-coming hairdressers who will form the line-up for the brand’s GenNOW team in 2021/22, an opportunity to embark on an incredible 18-month programme mentored by award-winning Luke Benson.
Launched by Wella Professionals to discover rising stars hungry to make their mark in the world of hairdressing, GenNOW has been celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Being part of GenNOW will open doors to a wide range of educational opportunities, which could include on-stage platform work at some of the industry’s biggest events.
The once-in-a-lifetime experience will commence with an intensive Zoom Boot-camp, where the team will be mentored by hairdressing icons and receive media training, product knowledge and presentation skills training. “I think we have discovered some incredible new hairdressing talent in the making and I am really looking forward to this creative journey with them,” said Luke Benson. “We’re going to work hard but it’s going to be great fun.”
As the programme develops, the team will have opportunities to develop their skills and depending on how the hairdressing calendar looks post-Covid, it is hoped the team will represent Wella at industry shows and events.
The five team members are:
Tarin Scott from Hazel and Haydn
Sophie Kinlock from McIntyres
Danielle Boler from NJUK
Aisling Kenny from House of Colour
Emily Worboys, freelance
The skilful 5 entered to join the team on Instagram, demonstrating their work and impressing judges to get through to the final line up. Judges were looking for hairdressers over the age of 18, with 3-8 years’ experience, and a creative Instagram profile. Many GenNOW members go on to become Wella Craft Artists, making this a fantastic launch pad for any aspiring creative hairdresser.
