The number of beauty treatments available for both salons and clients only grows every year!
So, it can sometimes feel difficult to know which is best to recommend.
This applies hugely to brow treatments. Never before have there been so many options for how to groom and enhance our arches. So for this week’s blog, we’re looking at how to ensure you choose the right service for every client’s needs…
What different types of eyebrow treatments are there for salons?
Here at Salons Direct, we stock a range of brow supplies covering treatments such as:
- Eyebrow threading
- Facial waxing
- Brow lamination
- Brow tinting
- Brow makeup
As a beauty technician, you already know that not every treatment will get the best result for every client. You need to bear in mind not only the look they want to achieve, but what state their eyebrows are in at the moment.
Which eyebrow treatment is best for your clients?
Eyebrow treatments for sparse brows…
Thin or sparse eyebrows are one of the most common concerns clients have about their brows.
For these clients, encouraging brow growth as much as possible will be a big help. A brow serum such as Hi Brow Growth and Conditioning Serum should be applied after any treatment to condition the brow hair. Regular use will help brows grow strong and healthy in between appointments.
Clients with sparse brows will most likely benefit from a brow tinting treatment. By applying dye to the brows, the finer, lighter hairs will grab the colour too, helping to fill in gaps and make the brows appear thicker.
Henna brow treatments are also a great tinting option for sparse brows. This natural dye actually dyes the skin beneath the hairs too, which adds to an appearance of fullness.
Unlike chemical tints, henna gently coats the strands rather than penetrating them, so will help those with sparse brows hold onto their precious hairs!

Eyebrow treatments for fuller looking brows…
Whether your client has sparse brows or wants to make the most of what they’ve got, there is another treatment that almost anyone can benefit from – brow lamination.
Brow lamination has been soaring in popularity lately and with good reason. This treatment can give almost anyone with eyebrow hair instantly thicker brows.
It works similarly to a perm, brushing the hairs upwards to create a fuller effect before setting them into place.

You don’t have to use brow lamination alone, either. By adding a tint onto the treatment at the end, you can further emphasise the brows for a gorgeous, thick and full looking brow overhaul.

Eyebrow treatments for shaping unruly brows…
For some clients, sparse brows are not a problem. Rather, it might be that their fuller brows are in need of some shaping.
The main two options to decide between are threading and waxing.
So, how do you know which is best for your client?
First of all, while waxing is usually less painful, it’s sometimes not suitable for those with very sensitive skin. As with tints, an allergy test should always be performed beforehand.
However, waxing does remove the hair from the root, so the results last longer than threading where sometimes the hair is broken off.
Typically, threading tends to allow for more precise shaping than waxing. You can usually create sharper lines, while waxing is particularly useful when you want to get rid of a large area of brow hair.
Overall, the choice between threading and waxing is usually a case of personal preference for your client. If their brows are especially bushy though, a wax might be more effective and less painful.

Eyebrow treatments for sensitive skin…
The skin on the face can be very sensitive, so some clients might need a gentle treatment when it comes to their brows. Others might have allergies that rule out certain treatments entirely.
In fact, it’s not only the skin’s natural sensitivity to be aware of. Clients who have had recent facial treatments such as chemical peels or use products such as Retinol on their skin might also experience more sensitivity.
In these cases, a more simple tweezing might be better when it comes to shaping the brows, as waxing can cause irritation. Henna dyes that are free from PPD can also be better for those with sensitive skin – but of course, always carry out an allergy test first.

Vegan eyebrow treatments…
If you have ever had clients asking for vegan brow treatments, you might be keen to know exactly what products and services you can offer them.
Of course, things like tweezing and threading are perfectly safe for vegans, so long as you use vegan aftercare products. When it comes to waxing, it’s important that you choose a wax with no animal derived ingredients – this includes things like honey. For example, our Lotus Pink Creme Wax is completely vegan and not tested on animals.
As for brow tints, did you know that there are a number of products out there that are suitable for vegans? All Refectocil brow and lash tints are completely vegan and not tested on animals, as are our range of So Henna dyes.

The finishing touches…
When your treatment is over, a little finishing touch goes far in ensuring your client is as happy as possible with their brows!
After showing them your work in the mirror, they might want to enhance them further with a little brow makeup or gel. The Sienna X Sculpting Brow Pencil and Fixing Serum can add the perfect finish to a brow treatment, or you can enhance arches further with the Sienna X Brows Illuminator Duo by adding a shimmery highlight.
This also presents a great retail opportunity for you to cross sell your salon makeup as an add on.
Of course, don’t forget to go through the proper aftercare advice with every client visit, too.
